Brains, beauty and talent are a tough combination to beat. Mira Sorvino presumably inherited her talent
and brains from her father, actor Paul Sorvino, who must have seemed like a very intimidating figure to young
Mira's boyfriends. (I doubt they ever brought her home past curfew.) Paul Sorvino guest-starred on an episode
of the original "Star Trek" series, which Mira remains a big fan of. Mira has a degree in East Asian Studies from
Harvard University; she spent a year as an exchange student in Beijing, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Her acting
credits include "Barcelona" and "Quiz Show" (1994); "Mighty Aphrodite" (1995, for which she won an Oscar); "Beautiful
Girls" and "Norma Jean and Marilyn" (1996, which brought her an Emmy nomination); "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion"
and "Mimic" (1997); "Summer of Sam" (1999); and "The Grey Zone" (2001).
